Well, it has been 28 days since the Branston Emergency Plan was activated, the Branston Parish Council Covid-19 Support Group was formed and the newly recruited volunteers became active in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally of course, in co- operation with the Branston All Saints Group, the Branston Food Bank was also established three weeks ago.
I would like to take this opportunity to sum up the first 28 days in the following points:
Covid-19 Response information leaflets containing important contact details were delivered to every household in the Parish.
The BPC Covid-19 Sp Gp FB page has attracted 233 members.
There are 73 authorised and active volunteers.
174 requests for assistance and advice have been received and responded to. (Daily average 6.2)
74 residents have been identified as requiring ‘regular’ assistance.
Relatives from Edinburgh to Dorset, Northern Ireland and the United States of America have been assisted in supporting their families.
The highest number of requests received in a single day is 13.
The Group has featured on BBC Radio Lincolnshire and Lincoln City Radio.
The Group has appeared in NK News and LRF & LCC newsletters.
The highly successful Branston Food Bank has received generous donations from not only kind residents but; Branston Co-op, Branston Ltd, Branston Surgery and not least Morrison’s. Additionally, generous cash donations have also been received.
Finally, none of the above could have been achieved without the outstanding commitment and dedication of all the volunteers and those who have donated food or money. Their efforts have undoubtedly contributed to ensuring the well-being, welfare and importantly the safety of residents during these difficult times that has potentially saved lives.
On behalf of the whole community thank you very much and keep up the great work.
