A busy day with 14 requests being received including a couple coming from NKDC Wellbeing for residents in other villages which we were able to assist with. Three ‘new’ Branston residents popped up on the radar for help which is good and will be certainly using our services again in the future.
The Branston All Saints Covid-19 Food Bank features again today and a Box was personally delivered to a very appreciative gentleman in Metheringham by our Food Bank Manager Chris.
Additionally, I am pleased to say that in co-operation with Bracebridge Heath, Heighington, Nocton, Potterhanworth and Washingborough we’ll act as a focal point for food donations to assist and support our neighbouring communities.
Finally on this subject, the application for food donations from FareShare who are working with the Lincolnshire Co-op has been successful. In essence, this means that the Food Bank will receive ten trays of pre-ordered free food (totalling 150kg) per week until August. A big thank you to FareShare in Hull. Once again requests can be made on 07395 906220. All calls will be treated in strict confidence.
The recruitment of volunteers continues and today two more joined the swelling ranks of ground troops who are doing a fantastic job. Welcome to the Team !
For all group members. On a more serious note, it has been brought to my attention from various sources that there are a number of residents who are considered to be in the vulnerable category who have started to venture out for either non-essential trips or trips ie shopping that can be conducted by volunteers. Needless to say, and I know that ‘cabin fever’ maybe creeping in, but if you know of anyone in this bracket can you please gently remind them that we’re not yet out of the woods and measures still need to be adhered to.
As we come to end of another month, here’s a few statistics:
Group Membership – 245
Active authorised volunteers – 73
Requests auctioned – 240
Residents assisted – 84
Finally, here’s a post from a very grateful daughter:
“Please convey my appreciation to the team they helped my parents with their prescriptions. I live in Edinburgh and the support is invaluable ❤️”
Take care and Stay Safe – Andy
